Greetings from Riverside, RI., a small community "nestled" if you will within the city of East Providence. Riverside is located between Barrington, Seekonk, and East Providence Proper. Has it's own zipcode (02915), fire station (engine 2, ladder 1), and even a very famous Loof 1895 Carousel, stated to be one of the oldest ones in operation in the United States. (And still open to the public too.). My first blog should introduce a little about me. I am a RF and Transmission engineer. My primary responsibility is to maintain the transmitters used by two local TV stations. (The transmitter is part of the final process that lets you watch TV with "rabbit ears" or any type of antenna.) I also maintain the transmission equipment within the station, including microwave gear (not the things you cook your food with, its a device that gets our TV signals from the studios to the transmission towers)., the High Definition encoding and processing gear. If you watch either of our local stations in High Definition, you see the equipment I have programmed and maintain. I also maintain other parts of the building and provide trouble assistance to people who need it in the building. Outside of work, I love the broadcast industry. I run a website well known "in the craft" of broadcast transmission facilities, throughout the northeast, and maintain one of the largest collections of its type on the internet.
This has lead me to become friends with people who do the same job I do in markets as large as New York City, and as small as St. Johnsbury, VT. My work has been mentioned in both TV Technology magazine and the ARRL newsletter. I do also like to photograph infastructure (highways, cities, things that make life possible for everyone). I am also a licensed ham radio operator, KB1HWH. I am not very active with it however. I occasionally geocache, which is my only real time getting out into nature (other than to see remote transmitter sites). I love cooking, watching TV, looking at American Muscle Cars, travelling, and being at the forefront of the latest technologies. I consider myself to be very handy and hope to someday own a house. I am also a Beer Connoisseur (or as I am sometimes called at work a "Beer Snob".). I go to beer fests and tastings and can tell you the difference in beer styles. I have Fire Fighting in my blood (I was a voulenteer firefighter for 3 years in Great Barrington), as well as a big fan of both Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice System. I am currently single, but working on that as much as possible, and not sure where things are going to go. Women are hard to figure out, lol. I've been told I have a wild memory and can remember some very odd and perculiar things. I owe a huge thanks to a couple of people for making me who I am today. Paul Kakley, my advisor in High School, who sparked my interest in television and helped develop my interest in both radio and movies. Fred Krampits who inspired me to follow my dream of being a broadcast engineer. My parents, for being the pains in the asses they were when I was younger, they made sure I never failed, I wouldn't have it any other way and could never ask for better parents. Of course all my friends, theyre awesome! And of course god. I wouldn't be WHO I am without him...
